As per NIC (E-way bills System)-2 Factor Authentication is Mandatory for all Taxpayers and Transporters from 1st April 2025
2FA = Login with Password + OTP (every time)
Once enabled, 2FA applies to both E-Way Bills & E-Invoicing Portal.
Though system still allows a 2-month deferral on filing undertaking with a valid reason (I’ve deferred in one case citing administrative challenges), here’s my suggestion:
Dealers – Register for 2FA early & get used to it instead of deferring it.
Professionals – First update mobile number (especially if you used your own number during initial registration), and then guide the client to opt for 2FA. Until then, can defer it.
